Overview

This DiviMenus extension adds the On Media option to the Menu Item Link Type field so that the user can give extra functionality (lightbox, open, download) to Divi images and videos.

It means that you can take advantage of all the DiviMenu options, as well as the new media options introduced by this extension.

DiviMenus On Media

You can learn more about these media options in this documentation.

Supported modules

This plugin adds the “DiviMenu On Media” toggle to the Design Tab of the Divi modules listed below, so that you can select a DiviMenu from your Divi Library and place it over the module images or videos. In addition to that, you can choose how to display the DiviMenu as well as the location.

You can place a DiviMenu on the following module images and videos:

  • Image
  • Fullwidth Image
  • Blurb
  • Gallery
  • Video
  • Slider
  • Fullwidth Slider
  • Post Slider
  • Fullwidth Post Slider
  • Video Slider
  • Blog
  • Portfolio
  • Fullwidth Portfolio
  • Shop

Once you selected the On Media Link Type for a Menu Item, the media options will be applied to the module image or video where the DiviMenu is placed.

If you still have not placed the DiviMenu on a module image or video, the media options will be applied to the Menu Item Image.

Media and Media Links

Media

The media is the actual image or video.

Media Link

The Media Link is the media destination URL.

The Media Link can be set by the user in some modules. For example, in the Image module, you can use the Image Link Url field to set the Media Link to an image.

Some modules has already set a Media Link for their images. For example, the blog module has posts URL as media links; same for the porfolio and shop modules.

These are a few examples of modules and media links:

Image media link: URL set by the user / none
Blurb media link: URL set by the user / none
Portfolio Media Link: project URL
Blog Media Link: post URL

Media Options

Open in Lightbox

This option shows the media in lightbox. That is, the media will be opened in a modal and the website’s content will be dimmed out.

It’s useful when you want the user to focus their attention to the media.

This options open the Media Link (if any) in a new window.

Download Media File

This options downloads the media to your computer.

If the media is a external video (YouTube), it will be opened in a new tab instead.

Fields

DiviMenu On Media

This is the toggle to enable DiviMenus On Media. If enabled, a DiviMenu will be displayed over the image.

The Divimenu On Media overlay will take over other module overlays.

DiviMenu

This is the DiviMenu to be displayed.

This select field will show all the DiviMenus that have been previously stored in the Divi Library.

Display

Here you can decide whether the DiviMenu should be displayed or not. If so, you can decide between always or when hovering over the media.

You can use the mobile option to set a different option for desktop, tablet and mobile / phone.

DiviMenu Location

This field allows you to choose where to locate the DiviMenu within the media.

Overlay Color

Here you can define a color for the media overlay that adds this plugin.

You can use the hover option to set a color when hovering over the media.

Troubleshooting

Here you can find solutions to common problems and issues that you might be experiencing.

The Title Text Color changes depending on the module the DM is on.

DiviMenus Titles inherit the color you have set in your theme as the default color. However, if the module where you place the DM has a CSS rule for the text color, the title text color will change. If you want to keep the title text color when using DiviMenus On Media, please go to DiviMenus -> Design -> Titles, and set a color for your titles.

#FFF will do the trick in most cases!

Important notes on use

  • You need DiviMenus in order to use this plugin.
  • Also, you need first to create a DiviMenu in order to display them over an image or video.

Relocation of the “DiviMenus On Media” toggle.

Some videos older than DiviMenus On Media 1.0.4 show the “DiviMenus On Media” toggle under Design tab > Overlay. Since then it is located in the Design tab, at the bottom.
